MILEY WORLD
HAND MADE TYPOGRAPHY AND NEWSPAPER DESIGN
We were asked to create unconventional newspaper spreads centered around hand made experimental typography, all inspired by a persona of our choosing. I chose Miley Cyrus. Miley Cyrus is constantly reinventing herself and as a designer this is something I really admire.
-
This design is centered around her 2020 tweet “IM NOT SORRY” regarding her 2009 apology for posing nude in VANITY FAIR.
-
This is a lyric from her song “Slide Away.” This song was dedicated to her ex husband Liam Hemsworth, explaining how their marriage ended because they simply grew up.
PROCESS
I used fur fabric from Joanne’s fabric store. I hand cut each letter then I blew the fur in all sorts of directions with a blow drier. I wanted to simulate this idea of being pushed in all directions, as many celebrities are, and with that, all you’re left with is a wild untamed person.

Process
I used coffee grounds and liquid coffee to create this typography. I wanted to use a drink that symbolized maturity. I then blew the liquid coffee around like a child playing with their food. I wanted to bring this child like energy to a mature drink to imply the question, do we ever actually grow up?
