THE PROBLEM
Current cancer and disease awareness t-shirt designs are out dated and tacky. These type of shirts end up only being worn on sparse occasions.
THE IDEA
I wanted to create t-shirt designs for medical research organizations that could be incorporated into everyday style. I was inspired by street wear, which is focused around vintage graphic tees, oversized jackets, and loose jeans/ sweats.
I chose four diseases that are close to my heart due to the fact they have personally affected my loved ones.
I want these t-shirt designs to be fashionable, typographically focused, and informative.
-
These designs are dedicated to my grandma. She loved butterflies, you can even see the butterfly broach on her portrait, so I felt it was important to make a butterfly the main design element.
-
These designs are dedicated to my mom. The national color for lymphoma is green so I knew I wanted that to be the main color, it also happens to be my mom’s favorite color.
-
These designs are dedicated to my aunt. The tulip is the national Parkinson’s disease symbol so I decided to focus the design around that.
